GENEVIEVE ODELL
Genevieve describes her dance style as first and foremost, non-traditional. After dancing with a bellydance troupe from 2010-2014 she began an intensive two-year training program in Dance Bunkai with Sensei Rosa. During their one-on-one training time they could be found sparring on the Rogue River in Oregon, or practicing Iaido (Samurai Sword) on the California coastal sands.
Rosa’s artistic concept of combining self-defense movements with theatrical costuming and dance created a unique performance style opportunity for Genevieve; opening avenues to the art of storytelling.
Genevieve currently performs with Desert Coast Dance Performing Arts and is most known for her empowering and elegant sword techniques. She choreographs and directs the Desert Coast Dance Performing Arts program for children and adults and is a lifetime resident of the Central Coast of California. She resides in Cambria, Ca. with her “team” which consists of herself and two daughters. Together the DCD team choreograph, teach, and design costumes and sets for their original storytelling dance productions.
